Leeds looked as if they were heading for certain defeat as they trailed Kettering by 0-3 with only twenty-minutes left on the clock, after Matt Murphy had scored twice and Brian Hardie once. James Milner came to the rescue with goals in the seventy-fifth and eightieth minutes to leave Leeds just one goal behind and ten minutes to go. He completed his hat-trick and in injury time and saved the game for United. Ironically he put those three goals past former Leeds Junior keeper, Paul Pettinger.
